1789-1790, the Constituent one creates 83 departments In 1789, to break with the administrative organization of Ancien Régime, the Constituent Assembly decides to cut out the territory in departments. The selected names all are resulting from the geographical vocabulary. The "department of Orléanais", as named it the Components at the time of their debates, takes the name of Loiret on February 26, 1790.
